BRCF names Jones as executive director

Jones previously worked as the Blue River Community Foundation program officer the previous two years after working for the City of Shelbyville as the Street Commissioner from 2012 to 2018. She worked for the City for a total of 15 years.

A graduate of Waldron High School and Indiana Wesleyan University, she has always worked in Shelby County.

In a press release, she said her time as the program officer had been “extremely rewarding” and she was “beyond excited to continue on in the new role.

She said in a phone interview that the Blue River Community Foundation has its new executive director with the announcement that Jennifer Jones, formerly the program officer at the foundation, is taking over.

Jones, a Shelby County native, takes over for Amy Haacker, who had served since 2012 before taking a job as the Vice President from community foundation programs at the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance earlier this summer.

“I don’t know what the fall looks like,” she said. “A lot of them are at a stand still, not able to do lot of planning. Our goal is to keep them strong through this process.”

Jones and her husband, Matt, are raising their four children in Shelbyville and they hope their children decide to return to raise their own families once they grow up.

In the meantime, she plans to continue to work her work in supporting her hometown.

“I hope to continue to make Shelbyville the best it can be a, just in a different role,” she said.

The program officer position at the foundation remains open, she said, and her first task is to fill it.
